A reply to Jeff Allen about a portable abrasive blaster.

I purchased a 20 gal. complete blaster from a local Harbor freight store (www.harborfreight.com)
item # 40925. I also purchased a new air compressor model H4519 from a local Grizzly industrial store
(www.grizzly.com) This is a 3hp 220 volt unit. It will produce 9.1 cfm @ 90 psi. (the blaster uses 6-25 cfm)
The problem with the compressor is that it is supplied with a 1/4" quick disconnect fitting.
To get the 9 cfm you will need 1/2" supply line. I had a buddy weld a 1/2" nipple on the bell end of
the tank, a union on 10 ft. of 1/2" air line connects to the blaster, here I added a 1/2" air pressure
regulator to control the blaster pressure. I purchased a 80# bag of fine blasting sand ($4.50) from a
local lumber yard. (they have coarse, fine and extra fine). I used a painter drop cloth as a
back drop, clamped to a partly open garage door to reclaim the spent sand.
Hope this info will help. This system works fine for me, blasted my rusty engine and am now painting.

Verne
