[SEL] Pouring Babbitt..revisited

Thanks for the info JB.  The book I have doesn't mention heating up the 
shaft so will try that next pour.  The second pour on the cap went better 
except for a void about half the size of a jelly bean but at least it made 
it all the way to the ends.

  Pouring is no problem as this bearing cap already has a large oil 
reservoir.  I'm sure you know the type.

  IR thermometer shows 143 on the pulley bearing and 120 on the blade 
bearing.  Will cheat and get out the Plastigauge now.  Probably strive for 
~.005 on an 1 1/2 inch shaft.

PS: Ya'll might be careful when tighting bearing caps with ears.!!! I 
already broke the bolt ear off one cap at 60 ft. lbs.  Lucky I had another 
one.
