[SEL] RE:piston ring upside down

G'day Ed

I had this dilemma just a few weeks ago. I dunno
whether you've had other replies, but my thoughts
directed me to place the lower oil ring with the bevel
facing toward the top of piston.

I reckoned that on the piston travel downward, a pool
of oil at the bevel would coat the cylinder and the
compression rings would receive that oil next in line.
I dunno what happens on the up stroke, but my engine
ran 2 days non stop at the Oz Ronnie Rally. Someone
must know for sure though. I could have a look at my
cooper-stover CT2, but I think I've got 3 standard
(comp) rings anyway!

Cheers

I want to put the rings back on the piston of my
Stover CT2 and
the bottom, ( oil ) ring has a bevel on one side and a
sharp edge
on the other. Does anybody know if the bevel goes
towards the
top of the piston or towards the skirt.
