[SEL] How much gap

Howdy again;
  Well the "T" Bar handle has been turned on the lathe and installed on the 
Galloway 5hp Saw Outfit's truck tongue.  She's almost done..whew!!
   Question please;
  When the exhaust valve is fully open, how much overlap/gap should there be 
between the two "latches?"  The cam sure seems to hit the push bar roller 
hard and it's very noticeable.  I would guess just enough gap so it does 
latch up and no more, but that's a guess.
