Hi Everybody,
Some might remember a shingle mill I bought a few years ago:

I took it to a building where one of the clubs I belong to meet. We had a
work day yesterday with a few others guys and myself. We managed to get the
blade off. We used one of those impact screwdrivers that twists as you smack
it with a hammer. We got about half of the screws out and then had to use
the torch to heat the screws then used water to cool them back off. Most of
the remaining ones came out with one shot of the torch. The others came out
with the second dose of heat. After removing the blade we loosened and
lubed up all the bolts that adjust the thickness and shape of the shingle.
Everything is operable now. Next week I will take the blade to a couple
places to see what it will cost to straighten and sharpen it. I will also
check on some 6x10 beams for the skids. I will haul it home in the next
couple months then will wire wheel the rust off, prime, and paint it. I
will also have to make a couple new plates of steel that are used to grip
the log as it is pushed into the blade. I plan on putting it to use this
year at the Charlton Park show in Hastings, Michigan. Getting the blade off
was a major accomplishment!
