Hi Tom,
 I'm pretty sure that these hot tubes were not a true silver. They were made 
from an alloy called German Silver, also known as Nickel Silver. These alloys 
contained no real silver, but were called that because of their silver color. 
 It's been a great week for engine magazines, got my new issue of GEM, SEM, & 
TOMM. Lot's of reading to do :-)
